I can't say for sure whether or not memory will work that is not validated. I don't show a model or part number on that page to check if it is validated.

I don't think the memory will work. There appears to be conflicting information posted on the memory. They list the memory as 5300P, but they also list it as registered/buffered memory. I'm fairly certain a memory module cannot be both P and R, but I could be mistaken. I think those are 5300R and not 5300P though.

Hello

No, that memory will not work in the 2970. Those are fully buffered modules. The 2950 is an Intel CPU server that uses fully buffered DIMMs. The 2970 is an AMD CPU server that uses parity DIMMs.

The modules you are looking at are 5300F. The F indicates fully buffered. Parity modules would have a P in place of the F. You can find more information about memory population in the system manual.
