Hi,

This is the system documentation:

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

This link in particular explains the LCD codes:

E13F5 PCI SYSTEM
Cause:
Faulty or improperly installed expansion card or system board.
Resolution:
Ensure that the expansion cards are properly installed. Reseat the card or try a different PCI slot. Try the expansion card in a different system.

If the problem persists, replace the expansion card(s).

If the problem still persists, replace the system board.

Hi,

The PCI card is most likely just slightly outside of specification. Not enough to cause a complete failure, but just enough to trigger the alert.

Hi,

I did to switch off the server. Then put in on again . Now it is solid
blue. I am woundering if I restart it will come orange or not. But what you mean it is outside of specification.

I mean the PCI card had a voltage or issued a signal that the sensors did not expect. The sensor then triggers the LED to change color.

Sometimes rebooting the server is all that is necessary to resolve the issue. Other times reseating the PCI card will correct the issue. If necessary we will replace the (Dell) parts under your warranty contract.

I am also having the same problem however I also get the error e13f4 which also seems to be related if i remove the power from the machine and start it up again I get no errors however when I do a reboot I get the errors coming up. We have already had the entire system replaced once because of these errors any ideas on how to resolve this issue

E13F4 - PCI PARITY
E13F5 - PCI SYSTEM

Thanks

Hi,

The latest System BIOS and ESM Firmware should resolve the issue.

System BIOS, PowerEdge 4600, A08
Filename: PE4600-BIOSA08.exe [617 KB]
Release date: 1/15/2003
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Dell ESM Firmware, PowerEdge 4600, A21
Filename: PE4600-ESMA21.exe [225 KB]
Release date: 1/20/2003

If you are running Redhat Linux 7.x, this driver will also help:

Adaptec 2940/78xx Integrated SCSI Adapter, Driver, Linux, PowerEdge 4600, v.6.2.8, A01
Filename: aic7xxx-6.2.8-RH72.tar.gz [244 KB]

Hello,

we have exactly the same problem.

On our system (a PowerEdge 4600 with an Adaptec 39160 SCSI adapter used to connect an external PV120T, system bios rev A09 and o.s. RedHat 7.3 with already applied the driver aic7xxx-6.2.8 for RH 7.3).

When we reboot the system we get:

E13F4 - PCI PARITY
E13F5 - PCI SYSTEM

and the system LED blinking orange.

If we shut the system down removing completely  the power it (generally) comes up with system LED blue.

We have already had the Adaptec 39160 SCSI adapter substituted but without any change in the behaviour.

I would like to ask if, beyound the substitution of the mother board, the problem could be caused by one of the memory modules (4 * 1Gbyte modules).

Thanks

The DELL downloads have been moved to ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/scsi-non-raid/

We already have flashed to

BIOS A13
ESM 1.77
PBF 1.01
RAID 2.8
SCSI AIC7890 2.57.04

and still get orange light

We are running VMware ESX / Red Hat 7.2 (2.4.9) so the aic7xxx 6.2.8 for kernel 2.4.7 can't be installed

Interesting to hear your feedback.

We're currently disabling the on-board SCSI, installing VMware ESX then re-enabling the on-board SCSI

Clive,

Same exact setup and error message.

We were able to resolve this by disabling the primary embedded SCSI (7899).  Fortunately for us, we have no plans to use it.

Good luck!

I should have said we have an internal tape drive that is connected to the on-board scsi
that we are using to do tar backups of our vmdks.

Just out of curiosity, Are you currently using either of the embedded SCSI controllers?  In other words, is there a reason why you have to keep the onboard stuff enabled in BIOS while running vmware?
