system services require upgrade R610

I tried to update the iDRAC6 firmware on an R610 using the "firmimg.d6" file using the "racadm" command.

The problem is that it is in a state of " a firmware update is currently in progress" and there seems to be no way to stop it and restart the upgrade.  It also says that "system services require an update" at startup.

I have done all of the power shut down, and bleed out the remaining power and then using the Ctl-E during the POST process.  And then trying the resets.  But it will not let me do anything to stop the update.

And it will not save any of the changes to the iDRAC6 that I try to make.

HELP!  I would like to get this fixed as this is an older but a great server.

thanks,

Richard

Hello

You can try deleting the job queue. If the iDRAC is not functional then  you will need to replace the iDRAC. The iDRAC is included with the system board.

"deleting the job queue"

I have not hear of that.

can I do that with "racadm" command..

or is there another way?

BTW the iDRAC is somewhat functional in that it is accessible.

it just continues to try to firmware update and runs a bit slow.

I don't see instructions in any of the iDRAC or LCC manuals. We have made it much easier to clear the job queue in later versions of the iDRAC. The only methods I'm aware of on the iDRAC6 are mentioned in this post.
