Dell IT Assistant software updates error.
Hello,
I have installed Dell IT Assistan 8.9.0 on a virtual machine with Windows 2008 R2 (64 bits), 2GB of Ram, and a Xeon processor of 2GHz and I can't open "Software Updates" configuration from Manage menu due to this error:
*************************************
IT Assistant requires that the Java heap size be increased.
*************************************
If I change the Java heap size to the recommended (-Xmx384M), I start getting the session time out error which I fixed with this Java heap size:
-Xmx512MB -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true (solution that I found somewhere at this forum).
I have change the Java heap size to 256, 512, 768 and 1024 with and without the IPv6addresses stuff without luck.
Is there a work around or a known compatilibilty problem with Win2008 R2 64 bits?
Thanks!

Thanks for posting this. I ran into the same problem on my new 2008 R2 server and even though I have IPv6 off it would not work until I entered "-Xmx512MB -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true" for the java enviroment.

I contacted Open Manage support and the correct line for the java console must be:
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE -Xmx384M -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true
or
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE -Xmx512M -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true
or
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE -Xmx1024M -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true
If you have enough RAM you can use 1024M.
Regards.
