HDD configuration on Dell PowerEdge R610

Hi all, I have some questions regarding HDD configuration on Dell PowerEdge R610.

Is it possible to use 1 SAS (146Gb) as OS partition and 3 SAS (2x600Gb) as data partition.

Or another alternative 1 SAS (146Gb) as OS partition and 3 SATA (3x1TB) as data partition.

thanks

Kimi

yes, it can be done.  You would create a RAID 0 for the OS on one drive, and your data can be on a RAID 5 on the remaining drives.  Just remember, there is no redundancy on the RAID 0 if the drive crashes.

Hi Geoff, that means the 2 RAID can be configure under 1 RAID controller?

Thanks

Yes.  The PERC can support up to 64 virtual disks (RAID arrays) on one controller.
