What we normally do to get OMSA to function correctly on a new install: 1) Right Click Server Administrator and select "Run as administrator" 2) Click to accept the certificate and then click the "Certificate Invalid" prompt at the top of the screen. 3) Click "View Certificate" 4) Click "Install Certificate" then click "Next" 5) Select the radio button " Place all certificates in the following store" 6) Click Browse and highlight "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" 7) Click "OK", Click "Next", Click "Finish", Click "OK" or "Close" when another window opens with the Certificate info. Click "OK" to close the Certificate window. 8) Press "Alt-X" to open Tools and chose Internet options. 9) Click "Security" Tab and the Click "Local Internet" Click "Sites" button and the "add to site" field should be filled in with your server name or address. Click "Add" and click "Close" Click OK. 10) Close The application (IE) and then open Server Administrator normally.
Installing/importing/generating a certificate will make the "there is a problem with this site's security certificate" message go away, but isn't necessary to get OMSA to work. One can simply click "continue to site" to open OMSA.
Adding your server to IE's Local Intranet (not Internet) zone will allow IE to log into the OMSA interface automatically using the currently-logged-on credentials.
