Problems installing Windows Server 2008 on a PE R900
Hello
I am experiencing problems installing Windows Server 2008 (standard 64bit) on a PE R900. Does anyone have any tips?
R900 with 5x146GG SAS HDDU, 4 configured as RAID-5 with 1 as HS.
The Dell System Utility seems to work correctly.
Following a reboot, when prompted for the Windows Server 2008 media, it isn't recognised.
(However the media itself will boot and start the install process (although it won't write to the boot sector after it has unpacked itself). )
(The media is a downloaded version of Microsofts evaluation version of Windows Serber 2008).
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Many thanks .... Andrew

Download the Microsoft ISO again, bad image or burner issue, try a different DVD burner. Had this issue a couple of times, same M.O.

Hi
Tried Nero & ImgBurn in two different DVD burners (and a new download) - same problem.
Also tried ISO with DRAC5 - same problem.
Any ideas?
Many thanks ... Andrew

You may need to install the OS without the SMTD DVD if you are not using an OEM or retail CD.
