Regarding OS Driver Pack and Windows Server 2016 on R710

I have a question regarding installing WS 2016 to R710 and DELL EMC Lifecycle Controller OS Driver Pack 17.12.00 that was published in late 2018.

May I ask if the driver pack should be installed after installing OS or during?

Currently, my purpose is to upgrading Windows Server 2008 R2 on R710 to WS 2016. Actually, I may have to clean-install the OS. I know Dell does not support WS 2016 for the machine, and Lfecycle controller can't be used to install the OS until now.

But late this year, Dell  published EMC Lifecycle Controller OS Driver Pack 17.12.00 that supports R710 and WS 2016. Thus, I wonder how to use the driver pack for the OS installation.

For future reference, I got the answer by finding following statement in Driverpack_readme.txt in the DVD.

######################################################################
How to Use the Operating System Driver Packs DVD
######################################################################

Pre-OS:
To update the Operating System driver packs on the managed system,
launch Unified Server Configurator-Lifecycle Controller Enabled
(USC-LCE) and use the OS driver packs DVD as the source while using
the Platform Update feature. After the update, you can deploy a
supported operating system on the managed system using USC-LCE.

Post-OS:
Run the applicable DUPs on Dell systems running Windows or Linux to
ensure specific validation criteria are met before performing the
update.

NOTE: To perform USC-LCE updates (other than OS driver packs), use
the Dell Server Updates DVD. For more information about using the
“Dell Lifecycle Controller OS Driver Packs” and “Dell Server Updates”
DVDs through the Platform Update wizard in USC-LCE, see the latest
Dell Lifecycle Controller USC/USC-LCE User’s Guide available on the
Dell Support site at support.dell.com/manuals. On the Manuals page,
click Software > Systems Management. Click on the appropriate product
link on the right-side to access the documents.
