Windows 2008 R2 w/SP1 UEFI install

Apologize if this is an old question but I seem to find conflicting "current versus legacy" information.

Installing Windows Server 2008 R2 w/SP1 onto a new R620 with version 420 firmware bundle updates, using the USC (after clearing any existing partitions to avoid MBR issues). I selected UEFI as the boot method. When the Windows installer executes, it shows me the virtual disk onto which I can install. However, Windows states that the system may not support this boot type. I ignored the error and it seems to have installed fine (I can reboot and configure the OS with no problems so far).

I found a couple of KB articles at MS pertaining to the error message and that to fix it, I need to integrate a couple of hotfixes into the installer media (KB975535 and KB2011542). The kicker comes in the second article when it states that you need the OPK to perform the integration, which is only available to OEM partners. Really? To perform an install of a licensed MS operating system on a new Dell R620 using the ratified UEFI standard, I need to be an OEM?

Anyone else run into this?

OEM's are allowed access to more tools and support than End users.  Thats also why OEM Bundles of software have the stipulation on them that they are not to be distributed to the end user.
