PowerPath Licenses for DR Servers

PowerPath Community:

I am working with a customer on architecting a VMAX and Brocade SAN for their DR site.  They are asking if they would need PowerPath software for their IBM p-series frames that will be idle at the DR site?  These are cold frames that will just be there in the event of failover.  I’m not aware of any “portability” with PP, so I assume the only option is to buy it for these frames if they want to have it in place of a failover, unless possibly they are booting from SAN and they would be able to use the prod version of PP when they bring up the prod image on the DR site.  Any recommendations for the best DR PP solution, or any other factors that need to be considered?

Thanks,

Sean

Sean - thanks for your post. EMC licensing rules require all products at the DR site to be licensed. See http://www.emc.com/collateral/software/warranty-maintenance/h2483-sw-use-rights.pdf for additional information.
