MD1220 with two R830s SSD Caching Cards Confusion...

Hi,

I am setting up some new infrastructure and want to utilize using an MD1220 with SSD caching. Basically run 14x SAS drives with 2x SSD for the cache.

The servers we picked out are the R830's modestly spec'd.

The thing i am getting hung up on is the raid controllers for the servers.

The MD1220 page lists out available H810 cards which support CacheCade but says "NOT SUPPORT 13G" which the R830 is a 13th gen from what i gather of the model names.

The R830 page lists out available H830 cards which when i look at the datasheet omit the CacheCade technology, what gives?

Is there a host-raid adapter already in the MD1220?

Do i need to run an H810 in the SAN for the cachecade and get H830's in the servers to connect the R830s to the SAN?

Any help here is greatly appreciated!

Don't mind my ignorance on this topic, I'm not an expert on hardware by any means.

Hello kbog666,

With your R830 servers you can use a PERC H810 card in the servers.  The PERC H810 is not supported to be used with OME (Open Manage Essentials) on a 13th gen server.  However you can still use the controller bios of your PERC H810 to manage your virtual disk that are on your MD1220.

Cache cade is no longer an option on PERC cards after the H810.
