ME4024 ADAPT disk pools / hot spare
Hello,
We have a 24 X2.4TB SAS10K drive ME4024 with 2 10GBe RAID controllers. 4 esxi servers running mainly database and web loads are direct attached with 8 Cat 6e cables for multipathing.
- Is it better to create 1 hardware disk pool with 24 drives for ADAPT or should we do 2 x 12 drive hardware disk pools?
- Should we assign "Host spares" like we used to do with other RAID levels in the past?
- Are there any special configuration needed for esxi and ME4024 since we are not using a 10Gbe switch and directly connecting using CAT6e cables?
Thanks

Hi,
Typically 2X12 drives. Hotspares are useful if you don’t need the full capacity of the total number of drives. The deployment guide may be helpful. https://dell.to/2IsNaqS

Hello Vijay Ayar,
That really depends on the type of data that your are going to be having. In most cases it is best to have 2 pools if you are going to have different types of data.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
