R710 + MD1200 Poor read performance

Hi folks,

I (think) i'm having an issue with my R710 attached to MD1200 by H800 with NV 1GB cache.

Its running Windows Server 2008 R2, and after running several tests on IOMETER, it looks like i've got an issue with performance.

I have an 8-disk Raid10 with adaptive read ahead enabled, 256k stripe size.

a couple of example IOPS ive been getting poor read performance:

16k; 100% read; 100% random gives me a total figure of 202 IOPS. Surely this isn't right? I can random write at 1740 IOPS!
16k; 100% read; 100% sequential gives me total of 28958 IOPS. Obiouvlsy sequential is going to be faster than random but I'd have thought read would be faster than write, so at minimum I should have 1740 IOPS?

What's more is that a 2-disk Raid1 outperforms an 8-disk raid10 on 100% random read by a rediculous amount (havent got the IOPS to hand)

Thanks in advance!

Peter
