I don't know of a customer-available simulator (who knows what Dell has internally).

To figure out disk space is easy.

I assume you're talking about a 16-disk enclosure fully populated.

In this case I believe that there are 6 raid options:

- raid 10 with 2 hotspares (yields 7 drives in usable space)

- raid 10 without any hotspares (yields 8 drives in usable space)

- raid 50 with 2 hotspares (yields 12 drives in usable space)

- raid 50 without any hotspares (yields 14 drives in usable space)

- raid 5 with 1 hotspare (yields 14 drives in usable space)

- raid 6 with 1 hotspare (yields 13 drives in usable space)

* The raid types without a hotspare can only be selected if you configure the unit via serial, or you have to set it up as raid 10 or 50 and then later via SSH convert to the no-spares raid type.

So you just need to decide which drive size you want to use, multiply this by about 0.93 (decimal to binary conversion means that from billions of bytes to gigabytes you lose about 7%), and pick your raid type.
