What's the best GPU for a Dell Precision M4700?
I have a Dell Precision M4700 with a Core i7-3740QM processor, Windows 10 Professional, 24GB RAM (upgraded), a 15.6" 1080p IPS display, a 7200rpm 320GB HDD, and an AMD FirePro M4000 Mobility Pro graphics card with 1GB RAM. Apparently, this is almost maxed out, with the exception of an SSD, RAM, HDD, and the GPU. Dell's spec sheet for the computer says that there's three GPU options: an AMD FirePro M4000 Mobility Pro with 1GB RAM(what I have), a NVIDIA Quadro K1000M with 2GB RAM, and a NVIDIA Quadro K2000M with 2GB RAM. I've taken the computer apart before, and instead of having a soldered GPU, it has a PCI-E 3.0 x16 graphics card. The card is actually pretty easy to take out, and I was wondering what the best card I could get for the computer was. I've heard if people putting a NVIDIA Quadro K4000M with 4GB RAM, which is a similar card to the K1000M and K2000M, but would this be the best that you can put in the computer? Could you put a more recent workstation graphics card, or a gaming graphics card?

The M2000M works fine with my M4700.

I have a Dell M4700 running windows 10 with a Quadro M2200 installed. Turned OPTIMUS on in bios and it stopped black screen on laptop display. You have to manually install driver. I'm using version 516.25, I think. It works great for games. You have to go into Nvidia settings and select the app you want to use with the Quadro. Windows will work with Integrated GPU at the same time. You could probably do the same thing with any MXM card add long as it is your A. My battery drains within 10 minutes if I'm using the Quadro GPU for games. It works great as long as it's plugged in. I can still use my laptop on battery power using integrated on regular apps.

I have an M4700 that I just upgraded with an M2000M, but my laptop originally came with a FirePro M4000 card. The Optimus setting in the BIOS isn't there, so I'm wondering how I can use this card with it.

@freedom7341 you must turn it on without any card. this way, M4700 gonna start with intel gpu, and it will be possible to enable optmus option on bios. after that, you may finally install the M2000M.
