Definitely too old bios. A01 sounds like the very first issued for the 3500.

The T3500 Spec Sheet and the T3500 Tech Guide aren't exactly in agreement on CPU's.

In this case, I'd definitely update the BIOS to the latest version that's for the T3500.  No surprise if the Dell site has you update in a couple of steps or so and not right to the latest BIOS version.  This was the norm in some Dell's at the time.

Normally we might lean away from BIOS updates if everything is working fine as to prevent any chance of MB bricking.  But it can also be wise to update BIOS when updating hardware.  As BIOS updates, it's imperative that the internet connection and power go uninterrupted.

Tip:  Updating hardware is also a good time to replace size 2032 CMOS battery if it hasn't been done in the last 5 years.
