Given the age of this system cmos battery is likely going bad or dead so the power recovery options are not saved when you turn power off at the power strip. The other issue may be that its not actually shutting down its hibernating and when you cut power input it crashes.

New DL2032 batteries are not expensive.

I will definitely try and change the CMOS battery.
I will let you know if it solved the problem.
