Mixing DIMM modules of different sizes

We have a Dell Precision 7920 rack with two CPUs and twelve 8-GB of RAM installed.  So, the current memory size is 96 GB.  I am wondering if it is possible to add twelve 16-GB or even 32-GB of DIMM to increase the total RAM size to 288 or even 480 GB.  I am asking because I am not sure if it is okay to mix DIMM modules of different sizes.

Thanks a lot!

The maximum compatible RAM for the 7920 is 3TB (24 x 128GB) as seen on the product page here. It is preferable to use all the same size RAM modules and 288GB and 480GB are not listed as compatible RAM totals. Dell systems are picky about RAM as it is and on a critical system such as a rack server it is best to go with the most compatible RAM totals.
