Precision 5400 - can I replace RAID with one drive?
I bought a Precision 5400 a few years ago and don't use it much. I turned it on recently and it came up with an error that there's no drives on the computer. I assumed it was the RAID card so I bought one off ebay and swapped it out and it still doesn't see the drives. I assume this is a RAID 0 or the good drive would of let the system boot... I guess both drives could of died at the same time. I'd like to pull the RAID card and both drive and replace them with one non-raid drive. According to the specs there's a SATA controller on the MB, just curious if anyone trashed the RAID and had success replacing it with a sata drive.

Hi @Jazgirl ,
RAID card is optional. You can always install OS on a single SATA drive connected directly to the motherboard of 5400.
