Precision 5820 with two 8+6 pin GPUs
We recently bought a Precision 5820 workstation with a 950W PSU. We would like to use it with two nVidia Titan Xp GPUs, each of which has a power consumption of 250W. We believe that the 950W should be enough to power both GPUs. However, we have a problem with the power connectors.
Each of the GPUs requires a 8+6 pin power connector. The workstation came with a single cable that splits into 8 pin connectors (one of the can be transformed into a 6 pin connector). Thus for the moment, we can only plug one of the GPUs.
My question is then: is there a way to connect the 2nd GPU? For example: can I use Y splitters that split a 8 pin connector into 8 + 6 connectors? Would that be safe?

Hi Pariasm,
I bought a Precision 5820 workstation with a 950W PSU and I would also like to use it with two nVidia cards.
How did you solve the problem? I'm considering to buy a Y splitter PCIE 8 pin male to dual 8 pin (6+2) male.
Thanks in advance.

There's a 10 pin extra psu connector for models with x2 cpus - just get a 10 to 2x8 or 8+6 connector and plug into second gpu - assuming your 5820 has the 950W psu - I just wanna know if that plus combined with the regular connector will be okay with rtx 5090 - I'm holding off buying the ada rtx6000s because I think I'm being smart - I also have an extra 950W psu from another 5820 I had previously - I'll run a cable from one on the outside and on from the inside and run 2 rtx5090s - somebody STOP ME HAHAHAHA - Kaz
