Precision T5810 BIOS A32 Causing Memory Error - Downgrade to BIOS A31 fixed it

Hello All,

When I flashed my Dell Precision T5810 to the latest BIOS A32, it causes memory error (Amber light on On/Off switch flashing 2 - 7 pattern)  Switch off system for couple hours then turn back on, it works most of the time but if I reboot, it might go into the same error.  I ran system diagnostic when it booted up successfully, system passed without any error

I found a workaround by downgrading to BIOS A31, no more memory error ever.  My system is 32GB of RAM (8 each 4GB memory module)  All slots are occupied

I also tried to remove all memory modules then re-installed one at a time.  Same error with A32 BIOS

IF you run into this issue with A32 BIOS, try to downgrade to A31 BIOS

I contacted Dell Support to report this issue, the lady first told me that my system is out-of-warranty (I knew that before contacting Dell Support) so I told her that I only wanted to report the issue.  She said she would take note then submit to "Higher" but I am not sure where it will go so I post it here in case someone runs into the same problem

The LATEST BIOS A33 solves this issue so go from A31 to A33 and skip A32

Hello,

I had the same issue using A33 and A34. I don't remember if I have tested A32, but downgrading to A31 definitively fixed the problem.

In my case, the system has 256GB of RAM (8 x M393A4K40CB1-CRC 32GB memory modules) and Intel Xeon E5-2696 v4 × 44.

Thanks,
Dragos
