In BIOS settings, set SATA operation mode to AHCI, set UEFI and Secure boot =  enable.

Remove all other drive, verify only the M.2 NVMe SSD in the system.  Go to BIOS settings, select data wipe under maintenance.  Follow process to reset SSD.

Use a Windows 10 USB, created from windows creation tool, run installation again to see if you have any error.  Let Windows creates partitions and format the drive, let BIOS set 1st boot =  Windows Boot Manager.

Hi Chino, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it very much.

I tried this today but upon install of windows I get the following error message........We couldn't install windows in the location you chose. Please check your media drive. Here's more info about what happened: 0x80300024.

I can click on new to create a partition but it also throws an error message.....We couldn't create a new partition [Error: 0xccabd1d0].

The only other things I'm able to click on are the refresh button or the load driver button. I really feel like its something simple but I haven't done anything like this in over ten years so I'm kinda outta touch on how all this stuff works. I think windows 7 was the last operating system I ever used. Any help or further ideas are much appreciated. TIA

The error code could be anything from too many partitions (or drives) in the system, or not having enough disk space, or corrupt media.  Clean Windows installation to a new drive is just a straight forward, simple process.

You state that you tried this today.  If you don't mind, can you list all the steps that was taken in your process, maybe I can identify the issue for you.

Hi there, thanks again for your reply/help. I noticed today when I turned the computer off and put my finger on the Drive that it was unusually hot.The drive was 100% new but shouldn't be 45/50° when it's not doing anything but sitting in the slot surely?

Also, I took another SSD and installed windows 10 on it successfully via USB without any problems whatsoever. I then tried to clone that to the NVME using the instructions and media provided by crucial that come with the nvme. I have exactly the same issues, won't/can't initialize the disk, won't wipe/clean/erase the disk, won't clone the disk even using their instructions and cloning tool.

I think its fair to say the disk is a dud. I returned the drive today for a refund and have a new drive to pick up on Monday morning. If the new drive does the same thing I will come back here and update with the full install procedure ect but for now I'll use a different disk until I can lay my hands on the replacement and try again.

kind Regards, Proton

That is the possibility.  If you were able to install on another SSD, no reason you couldn't on the NVMe.

As for the drive temperature, it was the location of M.2 slot, in a corner, next to HDD cage and no air flow or cooling fan.  If the thermal issue is persisted, you may want to try heatsink or PCIe adapter as remedy.
