Unable To Boot From UEFI
Hello
Dell Precision 3620 i7 7700K - Previously discussed unexpected 'surprise' Bios Flash to version 2.21.0 - Was possibly interrupted? The situation appeared to correct itself after reboot and the flash completed. When formatting new SSD system drive with Microsoft W10 Pro Full Install Disc, was unable to boot off Optical Drive (and OS disc), without FIRST changing from UEFI to Legacy in 'Boot List Option'. Completed OS installation successfully. However when attempting to reset Bios to 'default settings' (Booting in UEFI), cannot boot until once again changing back to Legacy Boot. Dell Diagnostics ran successfully several times with no errors. RAM is new and compatible. Booting from/into UEFI worked fine before Flash revision....
As in this example, I noticed Legacy Only?
Any conclusions (or) Options?
Thank you very much ...

After some research I discovered a partition problem when formatting with Legacy. I wasn't aware of this issue? Apparently if formatted in Legacy mode, then you cannot reset the Bios and expect to boot with UEFI. Apparently one needs to convert the partitions to GPT? The motherboard Bios doesn't allow/accept format with UEFI and forces you to format with Legacy. Unless I'm missing something, why did Dell design the Precision 3620 with UEFI yet forces you to format using Legacy?
Converting your Hard Drive from MBR to GPT
I don't understand why Dell manufactured the Precision 3620 i7 7700K in 2017 with UEFI capabilty when one cannot format a new drive using UEFI?
Does this complication apply only to SSD drives? Does the same issue apply to HDD drives as well?
Thank You
