Precision 5570 will not use NVIDIA RTX A2000 8GB graphics, everything defaults to Intel Xe
I purchased this 5770 running Windows 11 with the RTX A2000 card and have it connected to a WD19TBS docking station with two monitors. It displays across the two monitors and laptop screen just fine, but it is only using the Intel Iris Xe graphics. Drivers/firmware up to date on the dock, bios and drivers updated on the laptop, tried A2000 drivers from Dell, clean install and tried the drivers straight from NVIDIA...no change.
I also tried to connect displays directly to the laptop, one at a time and there was still no change. The NVIDIA control panel does not have the Display settings that it should normally have, even though I can see the NVIDIA control panel, device manager, and task manager know there's a secondary display option.
I check through the BIOS settings for an option to use the discrete card, but none existed before or after the BIOS update. If I manually disable or uninstall Intel Iris Xe from device manager, the external displays no longer work, and I still see that it's using the Intel Iris Xe.
Dell's chat support offered a motherboard replacement, and it had the same effect. The OS has also been reinstalled.
Am I missing something? Does this laptop utilize the card in a different way than I know of?

First of all: have you tried to check GPU on other system? Is it new or used? Have you tried windows 10?

Hey there,
I am facing the same issue - without the ability to route the RTX A2000 through the Thunderbolt dock (WD22TB4)- the performance is painful.
Even moving an outlook or excel window across my 3440x1440 monitor is terribly slow - reminiscent of the Windows 95 days. The Iris Xe shoots to 100% GPU usage and makes for a poor experience.
I'm running Windows 11, 21H2 & 22H2 tested - both have same effect.
I am concerned that the technology has taken a step backwards:

I have the same issue with a brand new 5570 with the NVidia discrete GPU - everything defaults to the Iris graphics. When I called Dell ProSupport, the tech wasted over an hour poking around at most of the things I had already done and concluded by telling me essentially that the GPU would enable if needed for high-end graphics applications. Has anyone got a straight answer yet?

Big nvidia card. cant use it to run my dual 27" 1440p monitors.
seems like a waste.

Any chance Dell could reply here? This issue makes Precision laptops unusable with larger screens as Intel Iris just doesn't support large resolutions at a proper display rate.

If anyone is looking at this thread the right hand side usb-c port on Precision 5680 is directly connected to the NVIDIA GPU and it even works through the dock.
