2135CN and a Linksys WPS54G print server
Hi, we have a 2135cn printer in a wireless environment. A Linksys WPS54G print server was bought to make the printer wireless but whenever we print through it, either nothing appears or if the print is more than 3-4 lines of text we get a one line PJL error printed. Printing from the printer properties page (test print) and the print server configuration page is fine. The Linksys website does not list the 2135 as a'supported' product. However I was wondering if either someone had managed to get one of these working with a print server, or if there was an alternative print driver available that support colour/duplex printing. We tried an HP 4450PCL and an 8500 PCL which prints fine in mono, but does not seem to support colour even though they are both colour laser drivers. All printing is fine when connected to a PC via USB.
We have tsetd the print server on another make of printer and everything seems to work fine, so it seems a compatibility issue with the 2125cn.

Steve,
I realize it's not the same printer, but the situation described here in this thread on the Linksys forum sounds very much like what you have.

Steve,
That's a bummer..... I've had nothing but good experiences using this product and have recommended it to several clients. (I think you dropped an "m" from the model; it should be WPSM54G) However, I've never had the occasion to try one with the Dell 2135cn printer.
It is interesting that the Printer Properties > Test Print works. That job is sent by the client PC, where the print drivers are installed.
Did you follow the book or CD when you installed? I've found the book to have several problems, but the CD instructions were dead on.
Do any of the other functions work? Scan? Fax?

Yes, you're right there is a missing 'M'! I ran the install CD, but when it got to the bit where it is supposed to detect the print server, it couldn't, either on wireless or when connected via USB. I've tried this on 3 'work' XP PC's and also my own personal laptop (Vista) and PC (XP). The PC does pick up the print server if a TCP/IP port is added with the address and also you can browse to it, ping it etc. so it seems to be functioning and it does seem to work with another 'basic' printer. We haven't yet tried scanning as this isn't a priority, and there won't be any faxing required. I've worked with print servers before and never had as much hassle!
I also looked at your other reply and tho' it isn't the same issue, it's worth a try and will do so in the next day or so.
I was hoping that Dell had a 'universal' colour driver that might do the bizz but I can't find anything.
Thanks.

I have had the Lindsys WPSM54G working extremely well with my Window XP OS for over a year. Then I got a new Dell computer with Windows 7 and hoped to get it ot work in the same way as my XP. This did not happen. I then contacted Linksys to see if there was a way to make it work with Windows 7 and they said that the tehnical team was working to upgrade the drivers to make them work. There was no expected date given for availability. I was then referred to an article that indicated that I could make manual changes that would enable it to work with windows 7. Well you guessed it, now it doesn't work with either machine.
I then called Dell and they said that the Dell adapter which cost $100 would work. I asked repeatedy lf it works on the 2135cn model and was assured that it would work. Well you guessed it again, the device works with the 2130cn which is an entirely different machine. The part does not work.
I am now stuck still looking for a solution. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.
