I am having the exact same problem, and like yours mine is brand new!!! I have read that there is someone else with the same problem aswell, I have tried phoning Dell but I am constantly waiting to get through, all I get is that stupid blooody music..any one please help
Perhaps not so oddly, I have the exact same problem. I have seen others on the forums ask about it and have yet to see an answer. Should we not care just because the printer was free (or was in my case, and now I understand why)? I will sit on the phone for the next 5 hours until this is rectified and will let you know if I get it fixed.

update
It may be a known problem as tech support quickly agreed to send me a new printer. The suggestion was the problem lies in the power brick.
