926 and Encoder Strip

Question

My 926 all of a sudden made the loud 'bang'.  I found the encoder strip unattached at one end.  It is not broken anywhere, I believe it just came loose.  Can anyone tell me where to reattach it?  Does it need to go through the carriage anywhere?  Please help.  I am a college student and can't afford a new printer right now at the end of the semester.   Thanks in advance, Lisa
