946 PDF and Scanning Issues
I'm trying to use the scan feature in my dell 946 printer, and am getting very frustrated over two things:
1) When I change settings, they don't save to the printer properly. So, the next time I turn my printer on, the settings are reset to default. This is particularly annoying with the size "automatic" vs "letter" when scanning regular pages since the default setting crops the sides of the image.
2) Saving to a pdf creates a very large file (~1.5mb for a 1 page pdf vs ~175kb for a normal pdf).
I consider both of these problems to be design flaws, and can't believe that Dell would sell a printer with these issues.
Does anyone know of a fix for either/both of these problems?
Thanks,
Glen

Open the Dell All-In-One Center
Click on scanning and copying
Click on update the applications to send scans to
click on enhansed search
choose AcroRd32 and choose pdf.
Now it will scan to Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If you have an automatic feeder, it will scan each page and put them in one document.

Has anyone figured out how to change the All-In-One Center default so that it does not switch to auto-crop every time?
A work around for the other issue is a pdf writer called PrimoPDF. I use that to take the PDF generated by the Dell software, and convert it to another PDF with a smaller file size (an extra step, but at least it works).

I have same problem with 968w AIO scanner. I used the enhanced search to add adobe acrobat reader 32 and did the complete bloatwear installation yet my pdf files from scans are huge (6M for a 3 page scan). I have ABBYY Fine Reader 6 on my computer but it does not seem to recognize my Dell 968w...which is set up wireless. Windows XP SP2.
help!
thanks,
tk
