946 Printer Error Code 20
I have a 946 which has been working fine until this morning. When trying to print the message onscreen says "Error code -20 Printer not activated"
I can not find that code in the manual.
Have rebooted both pc & printer but still the same.
The printer faxes and copies ok and both cartridges are ok
Any advice please?

From what I read, it's possible that either your virus protection or your drivers are causing the problem. Let's try the drivers first.
Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
All other drivers
Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer(powered on)
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

I have teh same exact problem ("Printer not activated error code- 20") but with a Dell 720! Don't think the 946 fix will work on my 720, so what do I do?

JustSerfin,
Make a new post and include the information below and we'll be gald to help you. I prefer not mixing printer as they use different drivers, patched and firmware. Installing the wrong firmware on a printer can cause it to become a giant paperweight.
