968 W Printer doesn't work with Win7

I cannot get my 968 printer to work with Win 7. I have followed all of the instructions on the Dell site to no avail.

I have a Dell XPS 420 computer and I have unistalled and re-installed the printer multiple times. Whenever I send a test page, it never prints.

I have looked in vain for any type of help from Dell.

I have called the useless Dell "tech support" and they said that the 968 printer was never tested with Win 7. If they had told me before, I wouldn't have installed it!!! The printer is barely a year old. What am I to do--use it as a doorstop? The one thing I will never, never, NEVER do is buy a Dell product again. This is unacceptable.

aleck,

Try using the instructions located at...

968 & 968w All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

Then let me know what happens.

We certainly learn the hard and expensive way to never deal with Dell again.  I don't think there is a printer in the world that will install on Windows 7. So far I am up to $1,300 and mine still does not work. NEVER AGAIN!

I have done what they said many times to no avail.

I have spent many, many hours working on this problem. I have always bought Dell products in the past. Can't Dell do a little more than strand me with a useless printer?

After I have done all of those steps, when I send a test page, nothing happens.

I just purchased a new HP all in one printer when my Dell bit the dust. HP does now work with WIndows 7 either. I think we are up creek without a paddle.

I still have not heard any reply to my posting of 1/10 wherein I state that I have tried all of the methods suggested and nothing works!

I am so fed up with Dell!! I feel like sending my 968 printer back to the Dell bozos postage due. Do I really have to buy a HP printer to "fix" this problem created by Dell incompetence?

Hello,

What version of Win7 are you using? 32 or 64 bit? Here's a link to the 968/968w driver for the 32 bit version. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R241344&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A968&servicetag=&os=W732&osl=en&deviceid=15344&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=348024

You should completely remove the old driver prior to the reinstallation.
