Crazyeyes2k,

First, try using these instructions below and tell me what happens.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer.

Restart your computer.

Download the proper drivers.

XP Drivers

Vista 32-bit Drivers

64-bit drivers

All other drivers

Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer(powered on)

Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

I was told this is the Fax Application.

Hi Rick,

While waiting for a reply I once again tried Dell On Call and all the tech did was a System Restore which created a new batch of problems that I'm waiting on a call from a previous DOC tech to solve. But on the bright side the System Restore fixed my fazing problem but I still scan scan a text documemt to a Word file. And the tech I'm waiting on is suppposed to help me with that also.

Thanks

Carl

Carl,

I just got a new Studio 17 Laptop. I had to follow my own advice to get my Dell 964 printer to work. I tried cheating and it didn't work. I wanted to try doing a system repair but could figure out how to do it with Vista. I ended up re-installing the Operating system with the Dell Image, unfortunately, my old laptop is in the shop for a AC Adapter plug repair, so I don't have all my files. I knew I should have copies and didn't do it. I had a problem with Javascript & ActiveX and I found a solution for that. Have computer updated and running much faster.

Keep me posted so I know if you got your printer issue fixed through all of this.

Rick
