drivergeek,

Was your computer upgraded to Windows 7 or did it come with Windows 7?

Try running Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.

Also include the virus program and firewall you're using.

drivergeek,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista
Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Allowing Printer past McAfee

1. Open the McAfee Security Center and then click on the ‘Internet and Network’

2. To the right of ‘Internet and Network’ you would see all the services that are present under it, just below that you would have a button ‘Configure’ please click on that.

3. Now you would have the Internet and Network Configuration, in this window you would have an option ‘Firewall Protection in Enabled’ to the right of that you would have a downward arrow, click on that.

4. Then click on the ‘Advanced’ button which would have a new screen up.

5. To the left of that window you would have ‘System Services’ click on it and to the right pane of the window you would have the ports listed.

6. Please check the option which is for ‘Windows File Sharing’ then click on ‘Apply’ and then ‘Ok’

7. Restart the computer

It worked! I have already installed 924 printer in Windows 7. Also did Windows file sharing in Mcafee.

I have installed the 924 printer as a network printer because she is phisically connected to my other computer.

The problem is that I can not print, I get the message: COMMUNICATION NOT AVAILABLE, tHE PRINTER CAN NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE COMPUTER.

drivergeek,

You got the printer to work, with the Windowes 7 machine, correct?

You said...

Why is there a computer physically connected to your computer?

The printer 924 is connected and installed in a computer with windows XP. I also installed the printer 924 as a network printer in another computer with windows 7. I see it in my network. When I tried to print from Windows7 I get the message:WINDOWS CANNOT CONNECT TO PRINTER OPERATION FAILED WITH ERROR 0x000000d.

drivergeek,

Sorry, maybe I must have missed that you were printer sharing with Xp and Windows 7. Some days I get a few printer sharing and most of the time it's a simple installation.

Try reading...

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

When running R148157.exe (dell printer 924 drivers for Vista 64bit) in my computer with W7 I clicked on properties to reach the compatibility and I saw: Vista, Vista Service pack 1, Vista service parch 2 and Windows 7. I was not sure which one to click on so I clicked on W7. Should have I clicked on Vista, Vista 1 or Vista 2?

All that trying to installed dell 924 in W7 as a network printer which is connected to cother computer with XP.

drivergeek,

Using the Compatibility mode, it has to match the drivers you're using to install. In this case, you're using the Vista drivers, so you can use the Vista Compatibility mode(I used Vista SP2 to install my printer.)

If you have an operating system that is NOT English, there is a word-around.

If the drivers are like the ones for another printer, when you install, choose network, then follow the instructions. If it was the same, you should see...

Select the correct option.

Should I rerun R148157.exe and click the Vista compatibility? or delete it and download it again.

I am confused, why choosing The printer is connected directly to a network....... the printer 924 is connected to another computer (XP) and I am trying to add it to W7.

drivergeek,

On the Windows 7 machine, try running Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.

drivergeek,

On the XP machine, since you're printer sharing, you'll need to download the 64-bit drivers to that machine so it can communicate.

Windows 7 64-bit machine, I would run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Download and run this patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompt you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

Now try following the instaructions at Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP

If you need drivers, then use the R148157.exe in the Vista Compatibility mode

The version of Finding system information did not look like the one I requested. Was this edited? If the operating system is in another lanhuage, the printer will have problems installing, but there is a way around this. Your finding system information should have looked like...

Finally, I can print from W7 in dell printer 924 connected to Wxp. I guess that the communication is possible because W7 and Wxp have 64bit drivers downloaded, but when I open the the Dell All In One center (to copy or scan) in W7 I get this message: THE DELL PHOTO AIO PRINTER 924 PRINTER DRIVER IS NOT INSTALLED. PLEASE REINSTALL YOUR PRINTER DRIVER. I do not understand if the drivers were there how is it possible to print what I been printing?

drivergeek,

I really cannot tell you. I didn't like the idea of leaving a host computer on for everyone else to print. I have been using a wireles print adapter until I got a wireless printer.
