Cartridge error message

I had a Dell All In One 922 printer which started showing an error message that the colour cartridge was not present. I purchased and inserted a new Dell cartridge but still carried on getting the same message. I tried absolutely everything suggested by support but still carried on getting the same message, concluded it must be a fault with the printer so uninstalled it yet again and purchased a new printer. I have now installed the new printer ( Lexmark AIO X3480) and find I still cannot print as I am getting the same message stating that the cartridge is not present.  Any ideas ??  Now getting desperate

As the Dell's are made by Lexmark for Dell, and now you have a Lexmark with the same problem is not unusual.  Either you have a defective (new) cartridge or the new Lexmark printer is defective.    I assume you are removing the protective film from the cartridge before loading it.

protective film is removed. When I had the error message on the Dell printer I tried everything possible , including cleaning the contacts etc. and tried two different brand new Dell cartridges.
The problem seems to lie with the computer itself and not the printers.

Most previous posts about this problem with Dell's (and it's a relatively common problem) suggest it is a cartridge or printer hardware malfunction error, not a PC issue.
