Color Ink Cartridge Short Circuited

I have recently been unable to print a complete page on my Dell Photo Printer 720. When I try to print a document the status printing bar goes to around 55%, the page starts printing and then stops.

The Cartridge Error window then opens instructing me to turn printer off, remove then replace cartridges and resend print job, etc; which I have repeated over and over again.

I even tried unplugging and replugging the power cords to no avail.

I moved on the next level about the number of times the lights are blinking, I have determined finally that the lights are blinking twice and followed the steps which is telling me my Color Ink Cartridge is short circuited with the possibility  that by black ink cart might also have the same promblem.

First of all can anyone tell how what  does the term mean? What causes it? What must I do to correct it?

I have been having my ink carts refilled at Walgreens lately and up until a few days ago I have had no problems with refills. Will installing new ink carts solve the problem?

Will some one please help me solve this situation

Dell Series 1 ink cartridges have a sensor in then that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 1 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

So from what you're saying, the sensors can no longer be read by the printer.
