Computer does not recognise scanner
I have a Dell C1765nf printer/scanner/fax and a computer with windows 8. The computer recognises the printer component of this, but when I try and scan something it says "No scanner detected" I have tried using the Add Scanner wizard and this now says I have added it 4 times, but the computer is still saying "No scanner detected". Please can anyone help. Be aware I am not very good at computers so please be gentle with the answer !!!

Thank you for posting to the forum. It sound like you may not have all the software properly installed. Please review the link below as it contains he drivers/software and should get you up an going once installed. If you still have further issues please contact technical support at www.dell.com/chatsupport.

I have now tried installing the drivers from the link. The computer said "updating software" for over 2 hours and did nothing else. I still cannot scan. I have tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling using the disc provided and still it says "no scanner detected" The printer works ok and I can scan to a dongle manually from the printer., but I cannot scan directly from the computer using the scan facility on windows. Please can you tell me what I have to do to scan from the computer. I tried going on the chatsupport site but could not make head nor tail of it

Hello Killicksparker,
Thank you for posting back. This issue seems a little more complicated than what can be handled by using the forum. If your having issues using the chat then please call the support team at 1-800-901-3355 and when prompted for tech support provide the express service code for your printer. The tech should be able to assist by remoting into your computer. Keep in mind there may be a service charge if you are out of warranty.
