DELL V515w ....again will not work. Windows did an update today 5.16.2014 now all-in-one printer will not work.

It seems every time I get updated by windows my dell printer wont work.  Is this something I am going to have to live with???? :emotion-39: is there some kind of fix I can put in my computer?  omg ...I hate the thought of uninstalling -then re-installing ...again ...it takes hours!!!!

example go to scan

i go to scan a document ...screen on printer says ..."scan to (Network) ...I press ok, then printer say's select computer -(has my computer name in it) I press "Ok", then printer says "downloading application list"  then after about 5 minutes screen on printer says "Cannot retrieve application list"

When I go to control panel, I see my printer listed there.  But also another printer.  I delete that other printer -restart computer.  go back into control panel, 2nd printer is there (2nd computer always say's offline)  the 1st there is on-line and ready.

kimbee1022,

The biggest issue...

In the December batch of Windows Updates, Microsoft installed Internet Explorer 11. IE11 had been causing printer problems.

Open Internet Explorer, click on Help, then click on About Internet Explorer. It should show the version there. If you have IE11, then go to control panel, Windows Update, Installed Updates, look for Internet Explorer 11. Click on Internet Explorer 11, uninstall.

Restart the computer, when prompted. Then see if your printer works.

If that does not work, I have another solution that should be used as a last resort.

mmoore1007,

The other solution is to turn off the balloon tips for the printer, but then you cannot see if the printer is printing, ink status, etc.

Start, control panel, devices and printers, right click on your printer, left click printing preferences, advance, more options.

Click on never show.
