Dell 1815dn Network Scan automatically opens files

Good morning everyone,

I've got a Dell 1815dn that we've set up in the office for the purpose of network printing and scanning.

The printing portion is fine. The scanning portion has a hitch.

Every time we scan a document to the server it opens the file automatically. This prevent users from copying the file, deleting the file, or renaming the file unless someone closes the window on the server.

I saw a similar case here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3528/t/19253391.aspx

However, I do not seem to have the checkbox to disable automatically opening the file after scanning.

Has anyone encountered this problem or know of a remedy?

Thank you!

Hi Blakbeanie,

Check the below mentioned screen shots for step by step instruction to disable opening of the scanned pages:

  1. Open the “Network Scan Manager”.
  2. Click “Properties”.

  3. Click “Advanced” tab.
  4. Uncheck the box “Open scanned image immediately after scanning”.

Hope this helps.

My Network Scan appears to be different form yours.

This is what appears for me on the Advanced tab.

Is the 'Send image immediately to the specified folder using an associated default application' option equivalent to the 'Open scanned image immediately after scanning' option?

Hi Blakbeanie,

Have you tried to uncheck the option “Send image immediately…”? If not, please uncheck this option and try to scan.
