Dell 720 colours all wrong

Out of the box and using the original ink cartridges my colours print wrongly.

Red comes out as yellow for instance.

I used the test sheet where you print off several lines of arrows and make adjustments according to which arrow is the darkest but it made no difference.

Anyone know?

Thanks

zixzy,

Is this only happen with Microsoft Word or with all images?

Yes, Rick, I'll agree with that - seems to be an ink issue rather than a software/ hardware issue.

Many thanks for your help

Thanks for replying, Rick, the miscolouring happens whatever I'm trying to print from.

zixzy,

Are you using Dell Series 1 ink cartridges, generic or refilled cartridges?

I have seen some older versions of Microsoft Word, where the person wanted one color and the printer printed a different color.

Hi,

thanks for your help.  I'm using the original cartridge that came with the printer.

zixzy,

Are you refilling the Dell Series 1 ink cartridge?

no... this printer is out of the box and the cartridge is the original and unrefilled.  I have had it for a few years as an unused reserve printer so if there's not a know issue it could just be one colour of ink has solidified.

zixzy,

My guess that the Dell Series 1 ink cartridges are probably dried out and that would be the reason for the color issue.
