Dell 922 printer cannot communicate with Dell Dimension 3000

Computer and printer have been working ok. Both are 2005. Have tried all of the previous replies from over 2 years ago that applied to my problem but so far no luck. Must be the computer as I hooked the printer to a Toshiba Laptop and was able to print from the 922 Printer. I've unplugged USB cable, put it in another hub. Changed Anti-Virus and Firewall programs. Uninstalled the printer and reinstalled. When I do hit the print button and the error comes up, I did check in the Control Panel and the printer shows that 1 item is printing. I have not reinstalled XP as of now. Any help will be greatle appreciated. Thanks

Tracy,

Download and install Search Everything.exe

Open it. Type

smartsource

this is the dell download manager. Delete all entries.

Then run CCleaner to remove the rest.

Now when you open Internet Explorer, you should get prompted on the download page to download in your browser,.

There must be a multitude of problems going on. I tried to download some pictures from a card that i put i my San Disk and it would go to the setup but after selecting to view and download pics, nothing happens. Maybe it's time for a new computer. Sure don't know what's causing all of these problems. Maybe if we can't figure it out I'll try anothe rreinstall.

Don't know if you read my earlier response at 11:59 PM.  I finally figured out what I was doing wrong as far as downloading with IE. Idid download the xp drivers but still the printer does not communicate after I reinstalled it and updated the driver using IE instead of the dell download mgr.

Found only 6 entries from 2003 for coupons when I ran search everthing else.

When running CCleaner am I to delete registry errors or just run the cleaner for internet explorer.

Or both?

Tracy,

Coupons?

Smartsource is what they call the Dell download manager, if you have it on your computer.

Had a bad Monday. Is it working or not?

Outside doing mulch :emotion-6:

Sorry to hear about your bad Monday. Mulching can't be too much fun!!!!

Going back to search everything and typing smartsource there are no objects/entries there now. I ran CCleaner both the cleaner for ie and the registry. I reinstalled printer and it still will not communicate. downloaded from update from xp drivers and still no communication.

I think maybe a different issue is causing all of the previous mentioned problems that are now occurring besides the printer, ie

not downloading from cd for Sonic solution even though it shows it is, and now not downoading pictures from a sandisk. Even now when I try going to Microsoft Fixit, it is saying there is a problem with that saying an error occurred.

Tracy,

You installed the Dell Desktop System Software and the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility first or the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection

Dell Wireless 1450 (802.11a/b/g) USB2.0 Adapter

The go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number and download the drivers you're missing. Look in the device manager for yellow exclaimination marks or red x's.

How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

I downloaded and installed the dell desktop System Software without a problem but after downloading the Intel chipset when I tried to install the following window popped up when i tried to run "(iKernel.exe) could not be launched.  RPC server is unavailable.

Went to 2nd message and did that. After downloading I assume I should go to setup to launch. When I do that's when the error message comes up. After doing that I went back to meassage 7 and switched te dcom service from manual to automatic. still no change. get error message when trying to launch.

Do you mean Desktop. The problem I have is not with a laptop.

Tracy,

You may want to ask this question in the Dell Laptop Forum. The ikernal issue might be that you need to download and install something from Microsoft.

Not much help from desktop forum so far.

Quick question. I need to fix the windows installer. I think that might be the root of many problems. I've looked on the internet and wondered if something called wisefixer would work.
