Hi,

I have followed all the instructions with the last thing being installing driver for Vista.  It has not prompted me to plug the printer in.  I guess I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer:)

 Lorrie_10,

Make and model of your computer and operating system. 32-bit or 64-bit?

Hi I have a Dell Latitude E5410 running Windows 7 32-bit and I cannot get my Dell 926 working. (It works fine on my XP laptop) I have tried everything you mention. I have deleted print jobs, installed all updates, installed the latest version of Java, used the patch to remove the printer (even though I can't install it). Made sure Windows firewall is off and I have disabled my anti virus software.  I download the Vista 32-bit driver and ran in compatibility mode - Vista (service pack 2). The wizard runs but when it comes to the bit where I need to connect my printer I get a Windows message saying "USB device not recognised". If I then look in Devices and Printers I see 1 unkown device. I also see the unkown device in DeviceManager under USB controllers. I can see from the thread that people have managed to get the printer working in Windows 7, please can you help?

Thanks

Linda,

The Dell All-In-One Center is in the drivers package.

Run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility until it promtps you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

You can then install the printer using the printer disk. If you do not have the disk, you can download the patch/drivers in the first post at...

Dell 926 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

Install the drivers. You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

If you use the downloaded drivers from Dell's website, you'll need to install the OCR Program to scan to documents.

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

Hi Rick,

How does one go about installing the "All-In-One" Center.

When Vista went beserk about a year ago, I had a computer guy install XP.  Everything has worked great until I tried scanning today (1st time in over a year).  My list of applications to scan to needs expanding and got instructions on how to do that from the Help Menu BUT I have to go to the  "All-In-One" Center, which is no longer in my list of programs.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Linda

Hello, my Dell Printer 926 will not let the paper come through and I am not sure why it's doing this. The printer says paper jam but it's not jamming it's just not coming through. I took a flash light to it to find out if there was some sort of obstacle in getting it out and all of the weels are  turning but its getting stuck way in the back. Any suggestions without having to buy a whole new printer?

freshmanchic,

Unplug the printer from the wall. Also remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting.

While the printer is disconnected, some people have turned their printer upside down and shook them for 30 seconds. Other members have tried a vacuum cleaner and got small pieces and other object out of their printers.

Hello. I have been having issues with my Dell Photo AIO 926 printer since I purchased a new PC running Windows 7 x64 back in October of 2009.

The first time I installed it, I ran setup from the disc with no other settings. I thought it was working fine until one day I discovered I could not scan. After messing around with it a bit, I got scanning to work by installing drivers off of the Dell website. However, sine then, I have been having several issues.

When scanning, dlcxjswx.exe crashes, causing the "Job Status Window Interface has stopped working" error message every time I scan, however the scan completes successfully.

Sometimes when using the preview function in All In One Center, the driver crashes. I have to kill all Dell processes in Process Hacker and restart All In One Center until it works (or just restart my computer) to restore functionality.

Sometimes when printing I get the communications not available error. No combination of killing/restarting processes has allowed me to fix this error, so I must restart my computer whenever this happens.

Sometimes when the low ink dialog box wants to pop up I have to switch to a compatibility environment to dismiss it.

I have tried the following to resolve this:

Manually remove all Photo 926 components in Device Manager, making sure the "remove software from my computer" check box is ticked when available.

Then, disconnecting printer.

Then, removing Dell All In One Center, restarting when prompted.

Then, running the Dell Printer Driver Cleaner, restarting when prompted.

Then, opening regedit and removing all compatibility references for anything Dell.

Then, running CCleaner, removing all junk files and registry errors.

Then, restarting.

Then, running install\x64\InstGui.exe in the driver folder with compatibility mode for Windows Vista set and by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator." Running the regular setup file causes my printer to not be detected, and then a prompt to run setup from the original disc.

Then, restarting.

After reboot, the issue persists. This has been a very irritating error. I am thinking that Dell's x64 driver for this printer is junk, as I had no issues with my old PC running XP SP3.

My computer is currently running Windows 7 SP1 x64. I installed SP1 hoping it would fix some issues but instead it made them worse. Now I receive the "Job Status Window Interface has stopped working" error twice whenever scanning.

Any help would be appreciated.

intelfanboy,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

Links to the patch/drivers can be found in the first thread at Dell 926 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)
