If this is a wireless printer, I recommend using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings , I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.
Install the drivers. If Kodak has Vista 64-bit drivers, download and install them in the Vista Compatibility mode you should get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
If the printer is wireless, if you changed anything in the wireless router, then do the setup like it's a new installation. Make sure the printer is connected to the network, before proceeding.
Since you have uninstalled McAfee, I don't have to give you the instructions to get past it.

other than the printer listed in Other Devices & with no driver (as before), Device Manager is clean & nothing strange.
Windows7 is just as it came from the Dell assembly line - no re-installs or upgrades.
Nothing changed. What's the next step? If you're out of ideas, does Dell have some" Wizards" in their support department that you know that you can hook me up with or give me a contact method?
Or (I dread saying this) should I try to dive into the maze at Microsoft support?
Anything...but I'm not giving up! I will not let this whip me.
Try posting at Microsoft Answers-Hardware and maybe someone there can figure this out. I'm thinking it's something with Kodak's drivers. Do they have newer drivers online?
Please make sure to install virus protection. I use FREE Avast Home Edition Register, it's FREE. Good for 1 year. When the year is up, register again. It's and endless cycle, unless you decide to purchase it.

Tony,
Did you use the McAfee Removal Tool ?
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Disconnect the printer,
Uninstall the printer, start, control panel, programs and features, Kodak Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

ventrial,
No virus protection, correct?
Start, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt, left click run as administrator. Type
sfc /scannow (space between the c and /)
Hit enter Have it scan for errors. I heard if this is run 3 times on Windows 7 it can correct errors. Not sure how true that is.
You can also try this when the system is not needed, right away, like just before bed.
Start, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt, left click run as administrator. Type
chkdsk /r
Hit enter. Answer with a Y
Restart your computer.
It will run for a long time, depends on the size of your hard drive.
Anything look wrong in the device manager?
Was your system upgraded to Windows 7 or recently reinstalled?
