Dell V305w alignment problem
I purchased a Dell V305w printer a few months back and it has worked fine. However, now a message appears on the dislay reading along the lines of, 'Problem with alignment. Remove tape from cartridges or troubleshoot'. How do I fix this?
Can anyone help with this?
Cheers

VijayGanger,
You are using Dell Series 9 ink cartridges, correct?
If you unplug the printer from the wall and remove the power brick for 60 seconds, this will reset any error messages the printer has. I would then plug everything back in.
Power on the printer.
Open the printer(with the power on) and take out the Dell Series 9 black cartridge and then reseat it. I would then take out the color Dell Series 9 ink cartridge and reseat it. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page.
Any error messages?
black cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)
photo cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)
Dell Series 9 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.
Dell Series 9 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.
It's possible to get a Dell Series 9 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. I would take these back to the place of purchase for a replacement.

Vijay Ganger,
I'd contact Dell and tell them you got a Dell Series 9 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. They will send a replacement.

Dear Rick,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am using Series 9 ink cartridges (ordered from Dell).
I performed the steps in your reply, twice, but nothing has changed. After turning the power on again, the error still appeared. It also appeared after printing the alignment page. Also, because of this error all the usual printing I do comes out uneven. Do you have any further solutions or guidance?
Cheers,
Vijay Ganger

I've gone through FOUR V305w printers with the exact same problem you're having. If under a year old, Dell will replace. After the 2nd failure, I asked if I could have an upgrade, since it was obvious this model is a "lemon." I would have even paid a little more. After my fourth one, I finally gave up and bought an HP, and have had no problems.
