Dell V313 printer - printhead problem

I've replaced both cartridges and keep getting a message on the printer - there is a problem with the printhead. This happened one time before, I did the troubleshooting and eventually it was fine. But not this time. I've done everything I can find but can't get this thing to work. Anybody have any ideas?

rpcmilan,

You can try...

Cleaning the Printhead on Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers

Troubleshooting Printhead Problems on the Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers

Before you reseat the printer cartridges, shake them to dislodge the sensor, if it's stuck.

Dear Pudgyone,

I'm having difficulty with the V313w Dell printer que performing as directed by the iMac.  The print job sits there but will not print and when I delete it and try again, there is still no response.  Any suggestions???  Also, the ink supply is good but the printer reads it either low or defective in some way........message delivered earlier today via a pop-up window.  I re-inserted the black cartridge but that may be the glitch?????   Just not sure what to do here.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

rebwebb,

Can you copy a document under the glass? B&W and color? If the answer is yes, then the printer is working properly.

Not sure how iMacs work, so please bear with me. I have this little command, Delete Print Jobs, which stops the spooler, then deletes the print jobs and then restarts the spooler. Restarting the computer finishes the process. Not sure if the commands will work on your system, so here are the commands one by one.

net stop spooler
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
net start spooler

After a printer is installed, some programs, like Open Office, Adobe Reader, just to name a few, are not set properly. When you go to print, click file, print and please make sure the proper printer is selected. Have seen these default to some other program because they did not have a printer to print to.

What virus protection and firewall are you using?

Printer wired or wireless? If wireles, what type security and channel are you using on your wireless router? Make and model of your wireless router is helpful.

The Message: "There is a problem with the printhead" is my problem also.  I have gone through all the instructions and the problem persists. I get to the place where I am instructed: "If there is an error message on your computer screen....." etc. but I have never had an error message on my computer screen. The only error message is on the printer itself which says: "There is a probelm with the printhead."  It this printer a piece of junk?  I am about to throw it in the gaqrbage!

My printer is brand new so hopefully it is fixable...however right now I would like to throw it in the Gulf.

I just finished chat:

Me:

Dell all in one V313w

My printer is less than 5 months old.  It has worked perfectly.

Today I replaced my black ink for the first time.

It is a NEW DELL cartridge. Not re manufactured or refill.

The color is over half full so there was no need to replace it.

I began the cartridge alignment print page.

It printed the colored first part fine and then an error

came up... print head problem.

The last part of the alignment page was smeared with gray and a thick blue line

across the page.

I followed the steps to clean the printer head by taking it out, etc.  and replacing

it after i finished. error still there.

I repeated the removing and replacing steps 4 times.

last thing I tried was deleting my printer and reinstalling it.

The error sign is still there.

I tried the forums...tons of people with exact same issue and no answer.

Please help.

Agent:

Please hold the 'Power' and 'cancel' button on the printer together.

Then restart the printer and try to print.

Please let me know if it works.

It would take the printer to factory defaults.

Me:

Thanks hang on while i try

Agent:

Sure.

Me:

It still says problem with printer head

Agent:

Jerri, we would go ahead and send out a replacement print head to you.

May I please have the shipping address?

So I am happy except for the 3-5 day ship time.  All I must do is return the defective part.

I hope since the warranty is good they will also pay the shipping to return ti.
