Dell printer 964 usb issue

Your computer is Vista, correct? 32-bit or 64-bit? You're connecting the printer via USB Cable, 5ft and under, I hope. Before we proceed, I need to know if you can print from the computer to the 964, when it's working. I am asking this bacause I want to make sure the printer is installed correctly.

i have went there but it does not find it again and power manegement option is not there

computer is media center 2005 32 bits and every thing works once it communicate

It's a very simple thing to change. The problem is with your computer, NOT the PRINTER.

Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager)

Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.

Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

Now tell me how well things work, again.

from what i see seams that the printer can't answer the computer and till that is done computer don't know whats the driver and can't communicate with printer

the usb hub where the printer is as no power manegement option because the printer is on it.

My 2 Dell computers, my daughters HP and my Sons Compaq computers all have power management settings in all the USB Root Hubs in the device manager. If your computer doesn't have such, then you need to have the computer looked at.

now it connected again but still no access to power manegement

maybe the power manegement is on printer because it powers down by it self after a while

as for usb cable its 6 feet tryied 5 usb cable even 4 feet does the same

so dell 964 printer as intermittent communication problem with pc don't know if its hardware or software if dell can have a fix for that would by great
