Hardware Error 0502 on A940 Printer

After removing paper from a paper jam, when I turned the power back on the printer would not work. There was an error message on the printer which read Hardware Error 0502. Any suggestions? Chuck

I have had the same thing happen to me twice now, the first time I had called for "Technical Support", and I ended up breaking it, so they sent me a new one, and it just happened to me again two days ago, and the same thing. I know it definetly inside the printer is whats wrong, and the only way to fix it is to go to tech support, oh and make sure you keep your warranty is up to date don't let it expire with this printer.. trust me

I emailed Dell tech support on this and they were able to walk me through a fix. The encoder tape had come loose from the back of the cartridge case. (The encoder tape is the upper one). To hook it back on was very difficult, because you can't see it...and you can hardly feel it with your fingers. Add to that the fact that I have big hands and you can see what fun I had. But I finally hung it back up where it was supposed to be and now the printer is working ok. He directed me to a page where the various codes were listed, but I'll be darned if I can find it again.  Thanks for your comments.
