How to use scanner in Dell 2335dn printer

Hello world

Can anyone enlighten me how to use the scanner feature in my 2335dn printer. The supplied software is remarkably unclear and there appears no option to scan directly from the printer ?

Yes I agree as well as it being unclear.  First of all to be clear, scanning is only available over USB and not over a network connection (like it is for the 1815dn).

Look for an Application called the "Tool Box".  Here you can specify all sorts of configurable parameters for the printer / scanner/ fax (e.g. format for scan - PDF, tiff, etc)

Typically scans goto your "My Documents" folder and once scanning is complete, you hav to MANUALLY open (e.g. Adobe PDF) to look  at what was just scanned.  Meaning it will not automatically open Adobe automatically.

If you can get it to scan anything at all you will be off to a good start. The documentation reminds me of something cooked up by HP...very difficult. I've 20 years experience in IT support and I cant find out how to get it to scan. The setup dialogs want you to use an smtp server to forward scans to users. I dont want have to set up an smtp server\daemon. This is a machine with a high frustration factor. Dell have ignored my requests for assistance. The cartridges cost a lot 35GBP for a 3000 page and I've not found a refill available. If you get it going its got all the features and it will be great when you can get everything to work. Keep us posted. It has a document feeder so perhaps it can scan a bundle of sheets.
