Installing AIO 966 Printer with wireless card

Does anyone have any experience successfully installing the AIO 966 Printer with the optional wireless card so that it can be remotely operated by a Inspiron laptop running on Windows Vista?

So far I've invested over 5 hours on this and still haven't been able to get the printer to work without being linked to the laptop with a USB cable.

I have worked with two different Dell tech reps via Dell connect.  They invested lots of effort but yielded very little in results.  After 3 hours with the first rep, he concluded that I had a defective printer and made arrangements to have another AIO 966 sent out -- but I have had the exact same difficulties with the replacement.  After 2 hours with the second rep working on the diagnosing why he couldn't get the replacement successfully configured -- I opted out of the call in frustration.

I'm hoping someone out there has an answer they can share....

Thanks!

When you first got the printer, did you install the Windows XP driver on you Vista system? Try this method.
  1. Unplug the USB cable from the laptop.
  2. Uninstall the printer driver. Start>All Programs>Dell Printer>966>Uninstall
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Delete the folder w32X86 in c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32X86
  5. Delete the folder w32X86 in c:\windows\system32\spool\prtprocs\W32X86
  6. Delete the folder Twain_32 in C:\windows\Twain_32
  7. Download the latest driver from http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R145450.exe
  8. Extract and run the setup
  9. Choose the network install.
  10. Continue the process until you'll be asked for WEP key if your network is secured.

Nothing works no matter how many times I try it! Dell is awful, no real customer service!

I've had my system (Inspiron laptop and AIO 966 wireless) since February and it worked a couple times after a Dell technician spent 5 hours on it and it will also work for about 5 minutes when I first boot up (then 'communication error').  I've spent lots of time on the issue with Dell.  Each time I contact them, they act like they've never worked on this problem.   From my experience and what I've read in the Forum, the AIO 966 wireless printer does not work with Vista and I wish they would just admit that and do a recall or something.  I like the printer but I would return it if I knew for sure another brand of wireless printer would work with my Inspiron.  I'm trolling other Forums for info on other brands and will probably return my printer and get another brand...
