M5200 Printer Driver Question

I just installed the Dell-provided drivers for the M5200n printer (WinXP Pro SP1). In my Printers window, I am provided (2) different Printers; I get

Dell M5200

and

Dell M5200 PS3

How do these differ, and when/why should one be used over the other?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Mike,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

I cannot find an explanation for the two entries.  All of the documentation that I have points to the installation of a Dell M5200 PS3 driver.

If you install the provided software, you will find the two printer entries that I describe.

I think a better answer is in order.

Hi

One of them is the PostScript driver (PS3) and the other one is the PCL driver.

The PS3 is mainly used to print graphics (I aslo suggest it for pdf's - it's faster) while the PCL is most of the times used for text mainly through Office applications

I hope this helps
