New DELL 1720dn printers ignore paper tray source specified in Page Setup

I have recently installed a couple of new DELL 1720dn laser printers.

We purchased an additional 250 sheet paper tray for each and the reason for this is that Tray 1 will hold headed paper and tray 2 will hold plain paper.

The problem is that regardless of the paper tray source specified by the group of users printing to these printers, print jobs are always printing from Tray 1 even though default paper tray has been set to tray 2 on the printer itself and even in the driver properties and page setup of the document itself.

This is a networked printer and this problem is happening when printing via a print queue on the Windows server or even if printed directly to the printers IP.

All our users are on DELL OptiPlex 745 PCs running WinXP.

Six years later...

I've had the same problem with my 1720dn ever since I used Dell credit to buy an additional paper tray. I recall talking with someone at Dell Support but not getting a satisfactory answer. Finally thought of searching to see if anyone else is having this problem. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.

Did you ever get this problem resolved?
