P1500 Compatible Toner

Question

It seems the P1500 is basically a Lexmark E321, but the Lexmark Toner cartridges will not work.  It fits just fine but the ready lite goes off and the toner lite flashes.  The cartridges look identical, even down to all the manufacture stickers.  I am assuming from this you can only use Dell toner in the Dell Laser printers. Mark

Mark, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. Dell only supports the use of Dell Toner cartridges in your Dell printer.

Thanks for the information.  How about going the other way?  Will the cartridge for a Dell p1500 laser printer work in my Lexmark E220?  Mechanically, I believe the printers are identical, but the dell high-volume cartridge is a better deal, so I'd like to be able to use it.

No, the chip on the cartridge will allow you to use it only on it's own brand.
